Pagrindinis straipsnio tikslas – nustatyti, kaip Lietuvos visuomenė ir profesinės tarnybos kariai vertina pokyčius, susijusius su kariuomenės paskirties, misijos, kario profesijos samprata, taip pat kaip skirtingi vertybių modeliai lemia 15–35 metų vaikinų ir profesinės karo tarnybos karių nuostatas vertinant kario profesiją. Straipsnyje, remiantis 2007–2009 m. atliktų apklausų duomenimis, nagrinėjama trijų grupių - visuomenės, jaunimo ir profesinės karo tarnybos karių požiūris į kario profesiją. Pritaikius moderniųjų ir postmoderniųjų vertybių modelius jame yra analizuojama, kaip požiūris į darbą ir motyvacija rinktis kario profesiją leidžia nustatyti Lietuvos kariuomenės kario tipą. Tyrimų duomenys leidžia tvirtinti, kad nors pusė Lietuvos visuomenės neturi aiškaus kariuomenės įvaizdžio, dauguma gyventojų kariuomenės paskirtį sieja su tradicine jos misija ginti Tėvynę, bet tarp karių vyrauja postmoderniosios vertybės renkantis kario profesiją ir postmodernus kariuomenės misijos supratimas.

Straipsnyje pristatomi tyrimo, kurio tikslas buvo apibrėžta prasme išmatuoti ir apibūdinti Lietuvos įtaką ES Tarybos sprendimams, rezultatai. Tyrimo metu buvo sprendžiami du uždaviniai. Pirma, buvo siekiama identifikuoti Lietuvos vietą ir jos atstovų preferencijas neformaliame ES sprendimų priėmimo tinkle. Antra, pagal galimybę bent dviem aspektais (politiniu ir teleologiniu, administraciniu ir organizaciniu) įvertinti Lietuvos gebėjimą „daryti įtaką“ ES Tarybos sprendimams.

The article presents the results of the research which, in a defined sense, aimed at estimating and characterizing Lithuania's impact on EU Council decisions. Two tasks were tackled during the research. First, it was intended to identify the position of Lithuania and preferences of its representatives within the informal EU decision-making network. Second, it was sought, if possible, to evaluate the capability of Lithuania "to make an impact" on the EU Council decisions at least in two aspects (political-teleological and administrative-organizational).

Straipsnio tikslas - atskleisti, kaip besikeičianti tarptautinė aplinka, Lietuvos naryste NATO ir krašto apsaugos sistemos reforma veikia Lietuvos kariuomenes raidą ir kiek pastaroji atitinka bendras NATO šalių kariuomenių raidos tendencijas.

The article aims to reveal how the changing international environment, Lithuania’s membership in NATO and the reform of its National Defense System influence the development of the Lithuanian military and to what extent the latter corresponds to the general trends in the development of the militaries in NATO countries. In the first part, the Charles C. Moscos model of the transformation of the society and the military from modern to postmodern which is applied in the comparative analysis of the development of the armed forces in Western democracies is presented. This part deals with the trends in changes of the armed forces of NATO countries in the period after the Cold War and collapse of the communist system. In the second part of the article, variables of the Moscos model are used as a theoretical basis to discuss the trends in the changes of the Lithuanian military. Attempts are also made to determine the extent to which the changes in the Lithuanian armed forces correspond to similar processes in the old NATO countries and what problems Lithuania faces having become a member of NATO.

Straipsnyje nagrinėjamas individualus saugumo lygmuo. Remiantis visuomenės nuomonės apklausų ir interviu su eiliniais gyventojais bei ekspertais duomenimis, atliekama Lietuvos gyventojų saugumo supratimo, jo turinio, veiksnių, didinančių arba mažinančių saugumo jausmą, visuomenės ir individo lygmenyje analizė. Atliktas tyrimas leidžia tvirtinti, kad Lietuvoje, gyventojų nuomone, aktualesnės vidaus saugumo, o ne išorės saugumo problemos.

This article analyses perceptions of security in Lithuania. The analysis is based on the qualitative research (in-depth interviews). In addition, data of several public opinion polls is used as a complementary source of information that allows to have a broader view and verify the qualitative data. Perceptions of security, causes of (in)security, and factors that influence the sense of security are analysed. The research focuses on the individual (micro) rather than on the state (macro) level of security.
