Challenges to national defence in contemporary geopolitical situation

The installation plan, operation and functions of the military field camp are very important for a military unit action. Every army in a NATO country strives to set up a military camp that is as flexible and comfortable as possible. NATO has set standards for the installation of a military field camp, and each country in the organization relies on this standard. This study was focused on how to build a military field camp as quickly as possible and to minimize the loss of various resources.

The article contains systematic principles, features and procedures for conducting information and psychological operations in NATO countries. The concepts of information operation (IO), psychological (information-psychological) operations (PSYOPS), strategic communications are defined, as well as their differences and functional relationships in the context of Ukrainian national perception of these processes.

Military is an institution which is one of the most significant national security guarantees. Lithuanian armed forces military psychologists findings of soldiers who leave the service before time show that the main reason is that organization is not able to ensure individual needs of personnel. The problem of this report is - how the military organization is able to implement function of national security combining individual officers and collective organizational values in the context of contemporary society? For this research was applied qualitative research method, using semi-structured interview technique.

In the paper the problematic issues of the military control automation processes and improving of the control level through the introduction of the geoinformation and special information component in the military control process are shown. The improving of the quality and efficiency of the control system can be achieved by automating control, that in turn affects the combat effectiveness of the troops (forces). The implementation of the process of command and control automation requires the using a single geoinformation framework and specialized software products for geospatial data processing.

Artificial intelligence is used in a variety of fields: planning operations, helping commanders make decisions, etc. However, the use of artificial intelligence in warfare faces to internationally recognized human rights, the Law of War and the Rules of Engagement. The purpose of this work is to attempt to highlight certain ethical, moral, and legal issues that may be relevant to the development and use of artificial intelligence for military purposes. Since there are not enough investigations related to such fields, this paper will be based on the analysis of the use of robots.

This article highlights the issue of national security through the lens of literature development. Since the information war has been going on against Ukraine for a long time, the instruments of influence on the consciousness of the population are constantly changing and the forms and methods of information dissemination are being improved, we decided to investigate the literary sources created during the Anti-terrorist Operation / Joint Forces Operation (further - ATO/JFO) period in order to highlight the trends of opinion formation. We used content analysis methods as a basis. The analyzed source base confirmed the thesis that fake and post-truth are artificially created and manipulative-imitation technologies that Putinists use for hybrid warfare. By imposing the post-truth era on the international community, the Kremlin regime creates a reality where emotions are dominated by facts. Thus, Russia's information strategy is based solely on the needs of the lower order.

We construct and study a continuous model that describes the conflict interaction of two complex systems with non-trivial internal structures. External conflict interaction is modeled by the additional influence of chance. The dynamics of internal conflict are similar to the Lotka-Volterra model, namely the model of information warfare. We interpret the new model of information warfare as the influence of rare events that rapidly change certain ideas of a large number of people. As a result, the number of supporters of different ideas make stochastic jumps that we can see using the Levy approximation scheme. We suggest that such a model could be more natural, as important news now has a quick and wonderful impact on audiences through television and the Internet.

Nowadays there’s still the questions in context of global strategy about prevention and protection of civilian population and critical infrastructure even when in the present doctrine the global powers "forgets" about the old strategy of nuclear warfare. That means that we still should think about retrofit those of underground spaces that was decommissioned in last years and to start thinking about reuse of mining shafts in rock mass as a fallout shelters for protection of civil population. By rock mass we mean the volume of rock necessary to represent a model of the structure of the rocks enclosed in it and determined by a specific task related to the impact of external forces (boundary conditions) on this volume. Currently, there is no universally accepted point of view on the possibility of an approach to the processes of massifs deformation; rocks being under load in various geological conditions from a single common point, the question now arises of creating the most realistic mechanical model of the massif. In this paper were summarizing some mathematical apparatus for rocks mechanical characteristics within the massif loading processes for underground structures model.

New calls for global security today, since operations the era of uncontested military superiority of western forces is fading and western response can't simply be to avoid operating in these environments but we should start to think about essential to protection of our potential in industry, population and infrastructure. It brings us back to refitting of rock massifs for fallout shelters requires an increasingly better knowledge of the composition, internal structure, geometry and depth extent of the individual rocks. This paper focuses on the long-term strength of a wide range of rock types that can be refitted for shelters.

When considering the scale of the rock massif to solve a specific rock problem, it is necessary to consider the structure of the massif within this scale (volume). If the structure is homogeneous within the scale of the massif, the solution can use existing ideas about the properties of rocks in the massif and the scale effect. A homogeneous massif can be composed of micro-heterogeneous “mother” elements. In this case, consideration of rock strength characteristics is associated with statistical characteristics considered in laboratory tests of rock properties. This mathematical apparatus can be important during the selection of rock massif that could be appropriative enough for location of fallout shelters for protection of civilian population against the effects of Nuclear Weapons.
